Dual Stack IPv4 and IPv6 technology
IP Address Exhaustion
For many years now it has been apparent that the number of available IP addresses was reducing at a phenomenal rate. Internet address exhaustion is accelerating due to the sheer growth in numbers of internet users, internet enabled mobile devices and the proliferation of “always-on” devices such as ADSL modems.
It is estimated that IPv4 will reach exhaustion between 2010 and 2011 which means that internet users need a credible future development path and this is provided by IPv6.
A Natural Future Growth Path
NTT Communications was the first telecommunications company to introduce a dual stack IPv4/IPv6 technology to ensure our customers have unlimited potential to exploit future internet expansion. NTT’s global backbone has been fully integrated to run IPv6 Native, Tunnelling and Dual Stack Gateway Services providing more flexible support for mobile computing devices, automatic transparent address reconfiguration, improved security and quality of service.
