NTT Europe and NTT Europe Online announce change of CEO

Mr. Masaaki Moribayashi appointed CEO of NTT Europe Online

NTT Europe and NTT Europe Online announced today that Kazuhiro (Kaz) Nishihata, current President and CEO of NTT Europe and NTT Europe Online, is to leave his present role, as it is planned that he will be made NTT DATA’s Executive Officer who will lead their Global business operations in Japan from 23rd June 2009. Since his appointment as CEO in 2006 Mr Nishihata has overseen a period of successful and rapid growth across both NTT Europe and NTT Europe Online. His Successor will be Mr. Masaaki Moribayashi, currently President and CEO of NTT Com Asia, who will take over the role from 15th June 2009.

With over 20 years of solid experience in the telecom industry, Mr. Moribayashi joined NTT in 1984. He was one of the original OCN project members and contributed to the start-up of NTT Communications Corporation (NTT Com)’s first ISP business from September 1995 to June 1998.

In 1998 Mr. Moribayashi joined Verio based in Colorado, US, where he was Director of International Partnership until 2003. Here he led Verio’s global business expansion, including the growth of their Hosting, Data Centre and Global IP Network Services. Following this he was appointed head of NTT Communications Global IP Network Division. He contributed to expand their Wholesale IP Transit and CDN (Content Delivery Network) business globally, making NTT Com one of the top 5 Wholesale IP Network Providers in the world (Renesys Survey, June 2009)

As President and CEO of NTT Com Asia from 2006, Mr Moribayashi was responsible for providing a full range of ICT (Information Communication Technology) services including Network products, Data Centre and Hosting Solutions, and Systems Integration. This included wholly acquiring APT Satellite Telecommunications Limited (APTT), the owner of a dedicated data centre building in Tai Po with Tier 3 equivalent facility on 3rd October 2008. He will lead NTT Europe and NTT Europe Online’s business operations throughout the EMEA region, bringing this wealth of experience to his new role.
