At NTT Europe Online we believe that our stewardship of the environment is vital to our future happiness and well being. That is why we have been working with The CarbonNeutral Company to carry out an audit of NTT Europe Online’s Data Centres in order to determine the average carbon footprint per machine.

Using this measure, NTT Europe Online calculates the footprint for each solution and then buys carbon credits, which effectively absorb the equivalent carbon and other greenhouse gasses emitted. This means that NTT Europe Online can provide a Carbon Neutral Hosting Solution for all of our customers.
 
But this is only a small part of our environmental programme. NTT Europe Online is employing the principle of Verified Emission Reduction (VERs) which enables third party projects to minimize their CO2 emissions by re-engineering or rethinking their work processes which are often an entrenched part of a traditional infrastructure.

It is also important to note that implementation of NTT Europe Online’s Virtualization Solution can bring environmental benefits too. Many of the machines a company owns are underutilised. However, one of the main features of Virtualization is the fact that a company’s total number of physical servers can be consolidated down to a reduced number which also reduces the environmental impact of the investment.
