Project Manager

Overall Purpose Statement

This person is responsible for the planning, delivery and documentation of NTTEO’s customer projects.  There will be a requirement to work closely with designated Technical Resources in order to finalise solution design and provide an accurate forecast of delivery to customers.

Throughout the project lifecycle the PM will be required to keep internal and external contacts updated on issues, risks and progress. A proactive approach will be needed to manage risk and timescales, as the PM is ultimately responsible for delivery of the project within tolerance.

From time to time, there may also be a requirement to manage internal projects, such as server migrations and data centre infrastructure expansion.

The person will also contribute, as part of the larger Operations team, to the continuous assessment of the effectiveness and efficiencies of the team’s processes.

Key Duties – Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • On-time Delivery of Customer Solutions and internal projects
  • Effective Management of resources assigned to their project
  • Effective Management of Sales team expectations
  • Effective Management of Customer expectations
  • Organised interaction with other Company employees and outsourced warm-hands personnel to maintain optimum working relations
  • To assist in the maintenance and management of the Project Team’s documents and templates
  • Conform to quality standards set by NTTEO Management
  • Maintain and improve customer service
  • Provide regular management reports as well as project update reports as required

Description of the Relationships and Roles

The person in this position will:

  • Report to the Operations Manager for day-to-day activities
  • Co-ordinate tasks with NTTEO personnel across Europe, but mainly in the UK
  • Delegate tasks to outsourced team in the London Hosting Centre
  • Work with the larger UK based Operations Team
  • Will occasionally be required to work as part of a larger bid and project team to ensure delivery of very complex solutions
  • Work with 3rd Party suppliers and partners

Skills and Experience

You must possess the following skills:

  • Project Management within a Computing/Telco environment
  • Experience in a customer service environment, both by telephone and face-to-face
  • Conceptual understanding of IT technology, networking and the Internet
  • Proven ability to meet high standards of written and oral communications with customers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and with other people
  • Tenacious attention to detail
  • Proactive approach to risk management

You do not require the following, but it would be an advantage:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and Project applications
  • Exposure to Prince2 Project Management Methodologies
  • Experience in the Web Hosting Industry
  • Knowledge of x86 and Sun server technologies

Education

  • Degree qualified or with relevant experience in the Web Hosting field
  • PRINCE 2 qualifications or demonstrable skills in formal project management
